I cannot believe it is already the last day. I left the room with my roomie still sleeping. I was seriously excited and anticipating the final day and the service at the end.
The morning with Judah Smith was again great with the message of changing a paradigm (mental models). The afternoon had a session on church branding which was good with tips on advertising and the heart & drive for church branding. The last session was on how to work with other organisations and governments. Sadly our pride does get in the way sometimes when we keep wanting to get credit for the work. But if we did it for God, it does not matter as we genuinely love to give to the people. In fact, maybe all the accolades may not be so good to have sometimes.
The last session was really great with extended worship. We (ST, SS, KS) raced to the front to sing and dance and it was quite fun. The service was also peppered with Mike G’s struggle against cancer, his ministry and the song “Healer”. Songs are always more powerful when you learn about their beginnings.
Overall, the conference was quite an experience. The people, atmosphere and messages were really right up what I had been stewing over the last few months. No, I don’t think full time ministry is coming soon. But I’d like to be in a “tentmaker” role and the tents I would like to make will serve the people. I was a bit disappointed with the attitudes of my fellow attendees and this was also reflected by AT & ST. I don’t think this will be a yearly affair for me but next year would be awesome with Chris Tomlin, Louis Giglio and Lakewood church team. The conference has also allowed me to meet some other people from different churches, mainly from Singapore as we tend to get picked out quite easily by out accents. Most of all, I think the conference really cemented the burdens of the heart. Its like the burdens were like firewood being collected and stored in my spirit and a conference like this is a firestarter to burn the passion. And I hope I will have enough firewood to fuel the drive and keep it going.
