Having only visited sentosa a few months back, I had another opportunity to go in again. This time by car. My cousin brought my aunts and I to this club called 1ยบ15 Marina. Its on the eastern side of Sentosa island in the area called Sentosa Cove. We had dim sum lunch at the chinese restaurant there. Nothing fancy, but the view and ambience was nice. Prices were steep and the chinese restaurant had authentic chinese waitresses. The club was quite nice, it being a marina and all. It had rooms to stay in and boats to rent, house boats to live in too. I was thinking of renting one and having a party next time.

After lunch we drove around to look at the houses there. Five million for a piece of land and maybe another 2 million for a house to be built, you can get the sea view over looking the harbour, port and Singapore city. Otherwise you get the back canal view and dock your boat on your own private jetty. The place is so amazing, if i were to be brought there blindfolded, I would have thought I was in Australia or America, near the waterfront properties. This area is equivalent as those of our western counterparts. I wondered if there was going to be an NTUC fairprice supermarket to serve this little community of people.

Sentosa has changed. For the better? I’m not sure. But I remember the days of yore when I was a wee boy (1998) and camped there for the First Royal Rangers Camporama. Which reminds me that the 6th National RR camporama is going to be held in june this year. I wish I could attend and play a part, but too bad. Unfortunately, the only attraction to suffer through all these redevelopment is Fort Siloso. I was told by one of the employers that it is the least visited site and the fastest viewed attraction on Sentosa. People just aren’t interested in war & history. I love the war sites in Singapore and there should be more publicity through war tours, war experience tours, military interest holiday tours or even a re-enactment society. If the americans dress up as civil war revolutionaries, we can get people to dress up in WWII costumes. Or we can get the 501st Stormtrooper Legion to set up HQ at Fort Siloso.
