I’ve been getting lots of advice from my uncle to move to the US. Over the last three days, I’ve been bombarded with propaganda that supports the good life in america. He has been describing the american style of living, business, leisure and even politics. I trust his insights sometimes, but being himself, you might need to discount about 40% of his figures. I agree with the land of entrepreneurship and opportunity. Somehow, since I got here, there is this feeling of freedom to do things, not just “its my right to do it” kind of freedom, but a freedom to pursue your own interest, your dreams and the chance to achieve it.
As an observer, they truly have a good life here. I get brought around in a Merc 320 with sat-nav. They live in the countryside near their children and grandchildren. Food is still plentiful and petrol is still cheaper than most of the world. And there is a tax free state just about half an hour drive away.
I guess that’s the large T-bone steak and AppleBee’s riblets talking……
